A customer brought in a rifle to have the trigger travel shortened with a crisp break. I am unfamiliar with this rifle from Austria. On the barrel is “cougar voere austria 30-06”. The bolt looks mauser-ish but the safety is a thumb push switch on the tang like a lot of shotguns. I would normally dig in and ask questions later but his parting comment was “oh, the rifle fires weather you push or pull the trigger.” I would like to have more information, especially was it designed this way or was someone in there mucking around, before I take the plunge. Also is there any thing/things I should be especially careful of?
Found this online. Looks like it has a adjustable single-stage trigger. The tang safety blocks the trigger. The article does mention that the trigger was “finicky” and the author left his back to the factory setting of 2.2kgf (4.8 lb).

I believe it is simply a Mauser 2 stage military type trigger. You should be able to do a two stage type trigger job. Ken
