REMINGTON 700 DOESN’T LOAD THIRD ROUND

Question

I have a Remington 700 with a Choate stock and ATI mags in .308 that does not like loading the third round out of the mag. I have tried changing the feed lips but it still loads the third one low and hits the under the feed ramp and jams. I thinking about raise the cartage up or cutting back the feed ramp. Do you guys have any better ideas? or have you run into these combo of parts?

Answer

3rd is in the same position as 1st round. If the 1st and 2nd rounds feed ok, the feed lips are probably ok. Maybe the mag spring is getting tired. You may try taking it out and giving it a bit of “attitude adjustment”; bending it in such a way that keeps the cartridges’ nose up. -TL

Question Follow Up

I have not adjusted spring, I will try that. It’s a 5 round mag. Thanks

Answer

Hits under the feed ramp huh? Does the feed ramp over hang the front of the magazine? Ken
