What Will the Guns of the Future Look Like?

By GCA Member Jay Chambers

The advanced futuristic guns usually seen in movies seem far from reality. We are at a point where humanity is able to achieve a lot through technology, but some of the things still seem impossible to create in real life. While you feel like it’s unlikely to come across bugs with full software on them, the future seems quite bright in the gun industry. There will be tons of options when it comes to the most advanced weapons, and you’d be shocked to know what they’ll be able to do. Are you eager to know what technology is capable of when it comes to creating guns? Here is how the guns of the future will look like.   Although its creation didn’t start yesterday, it’s still being tested and developed, as it’s a weapon that can do a lot of damage if used. It’s been developed for over a decade, and if those working on it will succeed in finishing the process, we’ll have a railgun able to destroy everything in its way. Basically, the electromagnetic rail gun should be able to smash through concrete structures that are 100 miles away, as well as fire projectiles at over 4,500mph. Given their use of laser energies instead of traditional explosive materials, they are said to be the future of warfare. The electromagnetic rail gun will be able to fire at long range and have a much better accuracy compared to the weapons we have today. At the same time, scientists are still struggling to find a way for the weapon to perform properly while not destroying itself once it fires. This happens because it needs a huge amount of power to fire.   Bugs can already be scary enough by themselves, but if they are implanted with various technologies, they can be capable of more than just buzzing and annoying you. Whereas this scenario seems more likely to happen in a science-fiction movie than in reality, you’ll be surprised to know that this technology has been worked on for a long time. Ever since the 1940s, humanity has worked on the creation of cyborg bugs that can do whatever mankind tells them to. Apparently, it’s been revealed that technologies have been implemented into insects at the larva and pupae stage, for the highest chances of viability. That being said, insects with tracking devices or cameras will no longer be imagination only, as they’re likely to become reality.   The US Air Force is working on developing the B-21 Raider, a destructive bomber that sounds quite terrifying – that if you’d be the one being attacked with it. What this gun will be able to do is deliver a bomb deep inside an enemy territory while under stealth cloaking. It sounds like a very powerful weapon, and its purpose is to reach any point of the planet while being invisible. Despite having a lot of highly classified details, the operation should take place only by roughly 2025.   If you’re a fan of zombie TV shows, you’ve most likely dreamt of being a hero by killing the scary creatures. However, this gun is not for killing zombies – its aim is to turn people into zombies. It is very evil when you think about it because using it can totally change the way a person acts. It’s currently being tested by the Russians, and this type of weapon has been thought about for decades. The way it works is by affecting the brain cells in such a way that the person becomes incapacitated, as their nervous system is being attacked. In other words, the one affected by the weapon is being turned into a zombie. In addition, it’s also possible to transmit suggestions to the victim, which makes it even scarier.   This invention will be able to change warfare, as it’s very terrifying. Even though some versions of it were used in the past, this one will be bigger, and it’s still in development. They’re basically cannon fired shock waves. A cannon will use oil-based fuel systems in order to generate a wave, and the intensity increases as it travels the length of the cannon barrel. When a wave hits, it can affect people both physiologically and psychologically. Despite sounding harmless, it feels like being shot. And at a higher intensity, it can even cause death, which is what makes it so terrifying in the first place. Israel is even building a non-lethal version of it, as they want to strengthen border security and control riots.   This gun is being designed to replace gunpowder or fuel. Its goal is to be able to fire 120,000 rounds a minute. It has no flash, noise or muzzle due to the fact it uses force. Moreover, it can be mounted anywhere, considering it doesn’t really look like a gun. Each of the bullets follows the other with 1/32nd of an inch in between, and the ammunition will be .50 and .308 caliber round metal balls. These metal balls will be shot out of the weapon at as much as 8,000 feet per second. In addition, it will be possible for it to be fired from space-based platforms without actually knocking them off their orbital paths. It could efficiently revolutionize riot control, as it uses non-lethal rounds. Final Thoughts Given the constant evolution of technology, it is only a matter of time until advanced weapons will be in use. Normal guns are already scary enough as they are, but some of the weapons that are still being tested and developed are completely terrifying. Guns that can turn humans into zombies, hybrid insects and thunder generators seem straight out of a science-fiction movie, yet they will be real in the future. So, gun enthusiasts sure have something to look forward to.

What about plasma rifles? Phasers or Laser weapons?

Do you think We the People will have access to these or will be stuck with powder and ball (lead)? I mean of which, I will always be pleased with traditional guns. But I also want t to be able to keep up the modern guns or weapons.

Testing of a magnetic rail gun was being performed in 1987.
Plans for a “phaser” pain gun was also available in late 1980,s.
Sound generation was experimented with as a phaser piano field as far back as I can remember. Wonder where these technologies are today ?

Only….odd? gun I think i’d enjoy would be a “Lancer”. (Fully auto with chainsaw attached). Then maybe when the Russians sends their zombies least that’s one line of defense. But on a serious note, if they truly come out with all these I would hope and pray that there is a HIGHLY HEAVY background check to any of them released to civilians. I’m all for the 2nd amendment and believe greatly in the right to bear arms, and don’t get me wrong, though I believe these new futuristic firearms would be fun to shoot, learn about, and break down and build back up, I believe that it’d turn into complete disaster when/if they was to get into the wrong hands. It’s already bad enough with a criminal having a modern day firearm. Imagine the Centrifugal or Rail Gun floating around. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me and my way of thinking, but I try to look at the pasture from all sides of the fence. I’m content with modern day and those alike firearms.
