I have a 111 Savage 7 mm mag rifle with the rear baffle that fell off of the gun. What is the cause and can I get one at Numrich? Mike
At the risk of showing my ignorance (which I do everyday) Mike, what is a rear baffle on a Savage 111. Thanks for any info. 😉

I don’t know but I do know it is supposed to stay on.

Savage told me it is a spacer and gas ring! and it has a ball detente that will come off.
Answer
It is not supposed to come off. There are ball bearings that hold them on and detent them. Occasionally the bearings will bind or come out and the baffle can fall off. Or sometimes the baffle will just come off. The baffle is the primary extraction cam surface. The bolt is to be forced back slightly when opened breaking loose the fired case in the chamber. The bolt handle hits the baffle when the bolt is opened. Ken

Thanks guys. Can’t count the Savage rifles I’ve worked on (always seems to be trigger work.) I’ve never had an issue with these baffles. I appreciate the education. Roy
