Tough decision to make. I have been working on this repro gun, now out of business, but found the parts I needed. The new sear/tumbler are machined and HARD!! Original sear and tumbler were cast and not very hard, damaged beyond repair. The tumbler was the hard part to find. Seems I found the last one in the country at Dixie Gun Works, other parts are from Lodgewood. But the hammer screw is different than the original part, can’t figure out what the tread is. Original is 10-32, easy, the new part is about an 8, but not 32 or 36, maybe metric?? Going on a screw search today, but I am probably faced with drilling and taping a very hard part. I have no machine shop, mostly hand tools. If I screw up this one, there are no others that I have found. Back from the hardware store, metric, M4 .70, rats. IMHO, screw is too small for the part it is securing, and definitely does not look like 1853.
It is only used for re-enactments, but still has to shoot. Bill
Done. I was able to drill it out with DIFFICULTY, but the chrome tap wouldn’t even scratch it. Heat sunk the lower part and annealed the top enough to get the tap to cut. Worked out well.
