BROWNING OVER UNDER LOCKING BLOCK

Question

I have this gun in the shop and the top lever sticks pretty bad only when the barrels are on and I have taken the gun apart to only the locking block. This appears to be the problem but I am not sure how to fit a locking block. It appears to be rubbing only on the bottom of the locking block. It came to me after someone had fixed some looseness in the barrels and now it is way too tight on the top lever only for the first part of the opening sequence and his old thumb can’t open it anymore. It is very tight.

Any tips for fitting a locking block?

Question Follow Up

After working on it more I found that the previous gunsmith welded the top of the locking block where it is still in the receiver. It is binding on the bottom of the locking block and not fitting on the top negative angle area that is supposed to engage the lugs at. For this reason, I was going to buy a new locking block and fit it when it comes in.

Answer

Yep, buy a new one. Remember we never weld on a locking surface. Ken
