GLOCK 22 TRIGGER DOESN’T RE-SET

Question

I have had this pistol for less than a year, the department I work for has changed over to the Glock 22. I have shot about 3000 rounds with no problems. The other day I was training with it, I fired it, it fed a new round but the trigger would not re-set. I stopped unloaded it and racked it several times but the trigger did not re-set. I continued to rack it and it finally re-set. It fired 3 rounds and did not re-set again. When I went home I took it apart and the only thing that I could see was that the disconnect showed signs of wear (end of disconnect looked bent). I replaced the disconnect and have dry fired, but not taken to range.

My question is has anyone run into this problem with the Glock 22? if so, what did you do to fix it.

Answer

The trigger doesn’t reset because the striker doesn’t catch the sear (on the end of the “crucifix”) when the slide returns back to battery. Several possibilities. The primary suspect is the worn trigger bar (crucifix). I would clean the pistol to make sure the trigger bar’s movement is not impeded by residue/dirt. If it doesn’t help, I will swap out the trigger bar, followed by the striker.

Has the pistol been modified / upgraded with after-market products? An out-of-adjustment trigger over-travel limiter can cause that too. -TL

Question Follow Up

The pistol has no modifications or aftermarket parts.

Answer

I repaired a 22 last year with complaint of rounds blowing out. I found the trigger bar had either stretched or was bent. The trigger bar was hitting the feed ramp slightly causing the weapon to not lock

Answer

Check the trigger spring and make sure the rearward loop hasn’t slipped to one side or the other of the trigger housing pin. The trigger housing pin has a groove that the spring needs to sit in. Rick

Answer

Make sure the striker and trigger bar are positive where they come into contact with one another. Keep us appraised. Ken
