I purchased a Wolff spring set from Midway and also a steel guide rod (non captive) so far I have not been able to install the recoil spring and guide rod. Sorry: I am trying to install the recoil spring and steel guide rod in an old Glock 17.

Answer:

First see if you can install the guide rod without the recoil spring on it. You may have to fit the recoil guide before you can install the spring. Make sure it fits where it is supposed to and everything works as it should.
