Just a quick question. I just fit a new secondary cartridge stop on an Ithaca 37 Featherlight and it did not have enough engagement. I heated and bent the stop to increase the engagement and am wondering if I will need to draw in back to a spring temper or not. Thanks. Erick
Anytime a part is heated red you should anneal it. Mild steel would not need to be annealed after heating to red. Ken
Question
I have another cartridge stop question same model different gun. This would once again be a secondary cartridge stop. Complaint was that it would not release any shells out of the magazine. I looked at it and saw the secondary cartridge stop had popped out of the side of the frame slightly and would not rotate. After freeing that and getting the shells out I noticed if the gun was turned on side the cartridge stop would move out of its normal resting place. Is there any way to help that stay in place? I have not had a chance to review the pro course material on that model yet but I would like to fix it before he looses it thanks.
Answer
The trigger assembly should keep it in place. How is it coming out? Ken
Question Follow Up
It appears the trigger assembly has worn on the front end and it allows the stop to fall out of place from the receiver wall and get wedged in there so it can’t move back out of the way.
Answer
May have to tighten the receiver there around the trigger grouping. Keep us apprised of what you do and how it works out. Ken
