I have a question or two about a Marlin 60 I’m trying to rebuild for my son. I was given a Marlin 60W micro groove barrel. I wanted to replace the old barrel on the Marlin/Glenfield model 60 with the new barrel I received. The Marlin model 60w barrel, I noticed has wider extractor grooves 0.245 to be exact. On the old barrel the extractor grooves are about 0.125. My question is would the new barrel work? I believe I would also have to change out the magazine tube because the dovetails are cut in different spots. Is there a way to fix that problem as well? Thank you guys for any help you can give me. Gus.
So with the new barrel, the extractor groove is wider than the extractor. It shouldn’t be a problem if extraction and ejection are no problem, except perhaps cosmetics. Is it possible to replace the old extractor with the new type? -TL
Answer
Extractor slots are larger on the new barrel so it shouldn’t be an issue. Install the mag tube rings in the new dovetail and fit the new cross pin to the magazine and it should work just fine. May not look perfect is all. Ken

Awesome news… thank you both. I didn’t think it would cause any problems but wasn’t 100% sure. The magazine tube I wasn’t sure of at all. Thanks again Gus
