S&W 4566 PISTOL TRIGGER PLAY SPRING & RIVET REMOVAL

Question

Any of you worked on the S&W 4566 Pistol? Got one in with broken trigger play spring broken. Have to take the trigger play spring rivet out of the trigger bow to get to remove the trigger play spring and replace it. Must remove the trigger play spring rivet. Looking for the best way to remove / take it out.

  1. Is the play spring rivet locked in with glue or what?
  2. Is there a special way to take it out? If so how?
  3. Note this is a SMALL rivet with a blind hole. Question on how does it stay in?

Anyone who knows or can help? First S&W 4566 I have seen.

The play spring keeps the trigger from moving left to right, I think…

Answer

Tony, go to the S&W Forum website. Sounds like most grind off the head and punch it out. Many including CHP don’t even bother replacing it. Rick

Answer

It simply takes out the free play in the trigger. Grind/drill it out as need. Takes out the back and forth movement. Ken
