My question is on the use of the TIG weld while working on gun parts. I saw your AGI/DVD on TIG welding gun parts. I would like to use the same tungsten and fill rod as you do. Would you please tell me what color tungsten and diameter size you use? What kind and size fill rod you use. This info would be of great help to me.
Tungsten rods come in different sizes: from 1/16,3/32,1/8 and 3/16, and colors like red, green, yellow, etc.
No I’m not an expert welder!
I am not an expert welder either. The thickness is 1/16 and the color is red. As far as fill rod……that depends on what I am welding and why. I use some stainless steel for some things that I don’t want any pits in and won’t be blued. I use wire spring stock for oil hardening metals that I will have to re-temper or heat treat. I use a spool of mild steel for welding on mild steel parts. Ken
