WINCHESTER MODEL 74

Question

I have a Winchester model 74 22LR. It will not fire when assembled in the stock. If the front of the timing bar is held up when out of the stock, it will fire. The front of the timing bar will not stay up in normal operation. All I have is the timing bar, spring and screw to hold them in place. Is there something missing that holds the timing bar up in the front? Does anyone have a picture of the timing bar in the gun?

Answer

Just sounds like the timing rocker spring and assembly is assembled incorrectly. Make sure all is as it should be. I believe I did a D&R on one of those in one of the past GunTechs. Ken
