Successful completion of the Handguns section of the course.
If you do not have all the required guns, you can discuss what you do have with Ken prior to class to determine what to bring.
Required Firearms:
One bolt action centerfire rifle:
Remington 700 this is probably the best choice but not the only choice, Winchester 70, Savage 110, Browning A-Bolt, or Mauser 98 just to name a few….all are acceptable.
One rifle with a two-piece stock:
Winchester 94, Marlin 336 are best.
One Ruger 10-22 with a WOOD stock. NO TAKE DOWN VERSIONs.
Not required but would be of great benefit would be any guns with cracked or split stocks, these would be good for the repair and reinforcement aspect of the course.
No other guns are required but any other guns the students could bring would be extra and that is a good thing. More guns are better.
Basic Tool Kit from the Tool list PLUS
Glass bedding compound of their choice. Steel bed, Acraglass gel, Devcon bedding material, to name a couple.
**Students need to bring enough to bed 3 rifles.
A set of pillars to pillar bed a bolt action rifle.
Brownells acra release areosol spray, or Johnson paste wax or some form of release agent.
Play dough……yes, the child’s toy stuff.
The standard tool list fits here but I will list the basics.
Any specialized tools needed to disassemble the rifles they bring to the class.
Screw driver set.
Hammer 2 ounce preferably but 4 oz is acceptable.
Mallet.
Sense of humor….this is required.
Round tooth picks.
Q-tips.
Apron.
Flash light.
Dial calipers.
Wood chisels…..a small set works.
Sharpie marker.
Files, both regular size and needle files.
Punch set.
Dental picks.
Stock scrapers………. the Jerry Fisher version that Brownells carries are good, but whatever brand the student wants should work.
Masking tape.
Eye protection, glasses/goggles.
For those students flying here anything that might not be acceptable to fly with can be mailed to me, as well as their tools and guns.
