Who We Are
The Gunsmithing Club of America (GCA) is a private community of individuals who want access to reliable Firearms and Gunsmithing information, and who are willing to share their personal knowledge, experience and joy of working on Guns with other members, as they are guided on their Gunsmithing journey by experienced tradesmen and Gunsmithing instructors.
In this month’s Over the Gunsmith’s Shoulder, AGI Senior Instructor Ken Brooks shows us how to straighten the frame of a Smith & Wesson revolver. Ken openly admits that this is not a repair that he has ever had to do before! In this short, but sweet video, Ken embraces repairing the bent grip section of a Smith & Wesson revolver’s frame. With the use of a solid lead block and a lead Babbitt to strike with, Ken methodically manipulates the frame back into working shape. The customer has requested that Ken see about fitting some new wooden grips on the same repair tag. Like usual, there is a twist, which becomes another interesting lesson to be learned from Ken Brooks, the American Gunsmithing Institute’s Master Gunsmith!
